With our Google Analytics 4 integration, you can enrich your RetentionX account with additional session data that allows you to understand your customer's marketing journey and ultimately the effectiveness of your marketing efforts, specifically where your most profitable customers are coming from. Learn how to connect to Google Analytics and how the integration works.
How it Works
RetentionX automatically imports all tracked UTM tags per order once they are stored by your eCommerce platform. Once you set up the Google Analytics integration, this data is enriched - not overwritten. The Google Analytics integration provides the following benefits:
- Fill gaps in UTM capture: If your eCommerce platform is unable to capture UTM parameters, for instance, due to self-hosted checkouts.
- Enhance existing marketing data: Add missing sessions to the marketing journey for a more comprehensive view.
- Obtain additional device insights: Gain insights into your customers' shopping behavior with enriched device information.
The following data will be imported:
- First click of the marketing journey
- Last click of the marketing journey
- Language of the browser
- Device category (e.g. mobile, tablet)
- Device brand (e.g. apple)
- Platform (e.g. app, web)
- Browser (e.g. chrome)
Google Analytics collects information per session and per user, including referring domain, UTM parameters and device details. Please note that Google Analytics only provides the first and last user session information for each order. If the session source information is missing, Google's channel group is used.
Once the data is imported, you can find it under Marketing Journey for each order. The data is available for customer segmentation and of course, automatically processed in our Marketing reports.
