Once your store is integrated with RetentionX, we'll import all your historical data and update it every night to reflect the latest changes. Although this process is fully automated, in some cases it may be necessary to initiate a full re-import of your data. But don't worry, performing a re-import is easy. Learn here when to initiate a full re-import, what it entails, and how to trigger it.
When to Force a Re-Import
A re-import is required in various situations, when historical data needs to be adjusted, such as:
- Changing the revenue definitions
- Excluding data on import
- Including data that is not imported by default, such as $0 or unpaid orders
- Merging multiple stores into one aggregated account
- Changing previously imported data, like COGS or product categories. Such changes will affect all future orders, while a re-import will also update historical records.
Implications of a Re-Import
With a full re-import, changes to your data and settings will be reflected in all calculations already processed in RetentionX. After the re-import, RetentionX will repopulate all reports, but it will start fresh with the daily load of all live reports as historical records became inaccurate after the changes were made. Here's an overview of all the affected reports, but of course our team is happy to assist you throughout the process and address any concerns you may have.
If the Forecast Plus add-on is enabled, the following live reports are also affected:
But let's use the example of the Daily LTV report to see what the report looks before and after an re-import. Let's assume we added the previously empty COGS to our eCommerce platform and triggered a re-import on February 27, 2024 to include these COGS for historical orders.
Before the Re-Import
Before the re-import, the live report started populating data from the day the brand was using RetentionX. Of course, all historical data is factored into the LTV calculation, but the daily record of how it's evolving starts with the use of RetentionX.
After the Re-Import
After the re-import, the live report starts populating data fresh from the date of the re-import, in this case February 27, 2024. Still, all historical data is used to calculate the LTV, but the previous records have become inaccurate with the corrected COGS.
How to Initiate a Re-Import
As soon as you make changes in your RetentionX company settings, e.g. change the revenue definition, you'll trigger the re-import yourself. Of course, you will be notified if your change prompts a re-import.
In all other cases, such as updating already imported data or merging multiple stores, the re-import will be performed by the RetentionX team.
