By understanding when your customers are most likely to buy, you can time your retention efforts more effectively and ensure that your messages are reaching your audience at the right time.
RetentionX does the number crunching for you and analyzes your customers' behavior to determine the estimated next order date for each individual customer!
Estimated Next Order Date
To determine the estimated next order date, RetentionX leverages the Time Between Purchases report, which analyzes the typical buying behavior of your customers by order count. Based on this data we understand, for example, how many days it takes after the first order for a customer to place a second order.
Since the buying behavior of loyal customers differs significantly from that of new customers, it is crucial to analyze the time between orders individually according to the number of orders.
Equipped with this, we combine the following parameters per customer:
- Last Order Date
- Total Orders
- Median Days Between Purchases
The number of days is then added to the customer's last purchase date.
Let's go through an example:
John has already shopped at your store three times; he placed his last order on June 30 this year. Usually, your customers shop again 35 days after their third order. So we'll expect John to place his fourth order 35 days after his last order, on August 4.

How to Detect Overdue Customers
Once the estimated next purchase date has passed without the customer placing the next order, that customer is considered overdue.
Overdue customers are labeled as such under Customers > All Customers:
