RetentionX helps you analyze your customers, orders, products, and more using transactional data. While importing this data, RetentionX also includes all order extras like package protection, gift wrapping, or promotional flyers that are added as individual SKUs to your customers' orders. While it is useful to track the revenue from these SKUs and identify, for example, customers who made gift purchases, these add-ons shouldn't skew your reporting, such as cross-selling or basket analysis.
No need to worry—RetentionX has a solution! You can specify which order extras to exclude from certain reports by adjusting your settings under Company Settings → Report Settings → Product Exclusion. This way, these items won’t impact your order analyses.
You can define order extras in two ways. Both options can be used in parallel:
Exact Product Titles
Start typing a product title to see matching products, then select the ones that should be treated as order extras. You can add as many products as needed.
Product Title Contains
Enter keywords or phrases that identify your order extras. Press Enter to save each keyword or phrase, then add as many additional options as needed. This setup allows order extras to be detected dynamically, provided they follow the same naming convention — including new products added over time.
Changes take effect the following day.
Handling of Order Extras
After we understand which products are order extras instead of core products, we do exclude these from the following analysis:
