Your RetentionX settings allow you to customize how your account is configured, how data is processed, and how RetentionX connects to the rest of your tech stack. To manage your configurations, open Settings from the bottom-left corner of your RetentionX account.
The Settings area is divided into the following sections:
General
Use the General settings to add your brand information and customize how your RetentionX account appears.
Branding: Upload your store logo and select the colors that represent your brand. These colors are used to customize your RetentionX account and exported reports, making them ready to use in presentations or slide decks. RetentionX automatically selects a suitable contrast color for users in dark mode. You can revert to the default RetentionX colors at any time by clicking Reset to Default.
Company Profile: Review your brand name, shop URL, and industry. If you are using the Shopify integration, your brand name and shop URL are pre-filled automatically. Your selected industry is used to benchmark your performance against comparable brands.
Report Settings
Use the Report Settings to define how RetentionX processes your data for reporting. These settings directly affect your reports and can be changed again if needed.
Revenue Definitions: Adjust how gross revenue and net revenue are calculated. By default, RetentionX excludes sales tax, shipping revenue, and discounts from both gross and net revenue. If your reporting logic requires a different setup, you can add selected components to the revenue definition. When changing the net revenue definition, the gross revenue definition is adjusted automatically. Learn more about how RetentionX calculates revenue.
Exchanges: Decide whether swap orders (product exchanges) should count as repeat purchases. By default, swap orders are excluded from repeat purchase calculations.
Product Exclusion: Define order extras, such as samples or shipping protection, that should be excluded from selected product reports. This helps prevent add-ons from affecting your analyses.
Sales Velocity: Define how many days should be considered when calculating sales velocity. Sales velocity measures how quickly products sell. By default, it is based on the last 7 days.
Data Privacy: Control how customer data is processed in RetentionX. You can anonymize customer data if you do not want RetentionX to process personal data such as names, email addresses, or address data. Please note that anonymizing customer data can limit certain features. You can also disable gender detection, which is otherwise predicted based on a customer’s first name and country. When disabling gender detection, you can decide whether to keep or delete already created predictions.
Currency & Returns: If you are using a custom integration, you can configure your reporting currency and define how many days after an order customers can return products.
Pixel
| Included in: Core & Growth |
Use the Pixel settings to set up and manage RetentionX's conversion tracking.
Setup: Follow the guided setup process in RetentionX to activate tracking. The setup includes connecting Google Analytics, authenticating Shopify, defining your collection setup, adding the required DNS records, and implementing the pixel in Shopify.
Event Log: After implementation, use the event log in RetentionX to validate recent tracking activity. The log shows pixel events from the last 7 days.

Data Mapping
Use Data Mapping to consolidate values that belong together but are imported under different names. This keeps your reports cleaner and makes performance easier to analyze.
Coupon Codes: Group coupon codes that should be analyzed together. Learn more about grouping coupon codes.
Marketing Channels: Group marketing channels that should be consolidated in your reports. Learn more about grouping marketing channels.
Data Exclusions
Use Data Exclusions to exclude selected data during import. Excluded data is not processed in RetentionX at all and therefore does not affect your reports, segments, or analyses.
You can exclude data based on:
- SKU
- Sales channel
- Customer ID or tag
- Order ID or tag

Cost of Goods Sold
Use the Cost of Goods Sold settings to define how RetentionX should handle missing product costs. Accurate COGS are important for measuring profitability, calculating contribution margin, and understanding customer lifetime value.
Imported COGS: If your eCommerce platform provides COGS, RetentionX uses these values by default for margin and profitability reporting.
COGS Proxy: If COGS are missing or incomplete, you can use a proxy based on the net selling price of your products.
COGS Importer: Import COGS per SKU directly into RetentionX. Imported values override any COGS already imported from your eCommerce platform, helping you avoid outdated or inaccurate cost data. This allows you to account for changes in COGS over time and keep your margin and LTV calculations accurate.
Fallback to $0: If no COGS should be applied, all COGS can be set to $0.

Predictions
| Included in: Growth |
Use the Predictions settings to fine-tune how AI-based product recommendations are generated in RetentionX.
Out-of-stock Products: Decide whether products that are currently unavailable in your Shopify inventory should still appear in recommendations. If you exclude out-of-stock products, they will not be recommended again until inventory is replenished in Shopify.
Previously Purchased Products: Choose whether products a customer has already purchased can appear in recommendations again. This can be useful for consumables or repeat-use products, while it may be less relevant for categories such as apparel or jewelry.
Recommendation Level: Define whether predictions should be generated at the product level or the variant level. Variant-level recommendations are useful when variants represent meaningful product differences, such as flavor or formula. Product-level recommendations are usually more suitable when variants only represent size or color.
