If you’re running on Shopify, you can connect your store to RetentionX and we’ll automatically import all of your order data. This includes all orders managed in your Shopify account across all channels, customers, and products.
By default, the following orders are excluded from import:
Orders with a value of $0
Orders with the payment status Pending, Voided, or Expired
If you’d like to exclude additional data so it is not taken into account in RetentionX and has no impact on your insights, you can set up custom exclusion rules in your settings.
How to Exclude Selected Data
Navigate to Company Settings > Data Exclusions.
-
Select the criteria to identify the orders that should be excluded:
SKU
Channel ID
Channel Name
Customer ID
Customer Tag
Order Tag
Order ID
Specify the value to be excluded, e.g. Channel Name = Wholesale.
Add further rules if needed.
Use Cases
There are several reasons why brands choose to exclude specific orders from their RetentionX account. Let’s take a look at some common examples:
Test Orders: Exclude dummy or QA transactions to ensure your analytics reflect real customer behavior.
Wholesale: Prevent B2B order volumes from distorting your DTC insights.
Team: Remove orders from your internal team—often including special-discount purchases—to focus exclusively on real customer behavior.
