Create email campaigns and flows based on your customers’ buying behavior, churn probability, lifetime value, and more. By connecting Mailchimp with RetentionX, you can enrich your contact profiles with powerful customer insights and help your team target the right customers at the right time.
RetentionX pushes customer insights directly into Mailchimp as custom contact properties. These insights are updated automatically, allowing you to build dynamic segments and deliver highly relevant communication—without manual exports or static lists.
How to Sync Properties to Mailchimp
To get started, open Automations → Data Enhancer in RetentionX.
Select Mailchimp and click Set Up.
Select Authorize Mailchimp.
You'll be redirected to Mailchimp. Log in and confirm the permissions required for RetentionX.
Back in RetentionX, select the customer fields you'd like to sync to Mailchimp.
RetentionX uses the customer's email address as the unique identifier when syncing data to Mailchimp and pushes all selected customer insights into the corresponding custom profile properties. If a customer does not yet have a profile in Mailchimp, Mailchimp automatically creates one. By default, this new profile is not added as a subscriber, but you can enable this option during setup.
Confirm your selection by clicking Create.
Once the automation is active, RetentionX adds and updates customer data overnight, and you'll find the new properties directly in Mailchimp profiles the next morning. From that point on:
New properties are automatically created when you add additional fields to the enhancer settings
Customer data is recalculated daily, keeping all property values up to date
Each property matches the corresponding field name in RetentionX and includes the prefix [RX], making RetentionX data easy to identify inside Mailchimp.
How to Create RX-Based Segments in Mailchimp
After RetentionX's insights are available in Mailchimp, you're now ready to start creating segments based on your RetentionX insights.
To create your segments in Mailchimp based on a RetentionX insights, all you have to do is the following:
In Mailchimp, navigate to Audience > Segments > Create regular segment or Create advanced segment
Select the desired RX property as a condition.
After you have reviewed the segment, click Review segment.
Specify the Dimension Value.
After selecting Review segment, you can name and save your segment. After this- the newly created segment is available for selection to specify your campaign recipients:
By using RetentionX insights directly inside Mailchimp, you can move beyond basic engagement metrics and segment customers based on long-term value, purchase behavior, and predicted intent.
Monitoring the Mailchimp Data Enhancer
After setup, you can monitor the status of the Mailchimp Profile Enhancer directly in RetentionX. The Mailchimp card shows when the last sync was executed and how many profiles were updated. This gives you clear visibility into whether the automation is active and the scale of updates.
