Once you’ve set up your Conversion APIs in RetentionX, events are pushed to your connected platforms. When you send a new custom event to Meta, you’ll need to approve it in Meta Events Manager to confirm that the event is from your business and complies with complies with Meta’s terms. After approval, you can create custom conversions and start using the event in your campaigns. Let’s go through the process step by step!
Approving Custom Events
- Go to the Meta Events Manager.
- Navigate to Data Sources in the left menu of the page.
- Select the name and ID of your data.
- Click the Settings tab at the top of the page.
- Scroll down to Data restrictions.
- Under Manage event blocking, click Review.
- In the Action required tab, select all the custom events you want to confirm.
- Click Next.
- Select Confirm the custom event.
- Click Confirm.
Creating Custom Conversions
In the next step, you'll need to create a custom conversion. By defining a custom conversion, you can:
- Measure the success of your marketing and paid ad campaigns based on these performance goals.
- Run conversion campaigns that are optimized for specific actions
- In the Meta Events Manager toggle to Custom Conversions.
- Click Create Custom Conversion.
- Set up the conversion by following these steps:
- Enter the name of the custom conversion; for example, Purchases – RetentionX.
- Select the Facebook Pixel as data source.
- Set the action source to Website.
- Choose the previously approved event.
- Add your shop URL as the rule.

Complete the setup by clicking Create.
And that’s it! Afterward, you'll find the conversions tracked for every campaign under Results > All Conversions, and you can also set them as a performance goal in your campaign settings.
